How to begin – Time Management & Plan

The most important thing you can do before you start your study is to have a SMART plan in place. It is easy to get swallowed into the business of the day and get tired enough to ignore revising your notes. To do convenient planning, you have to be realistic. Put a priority on the tasks or habits that are most important to you; do not worry because this is different for everyone. Also, if you are realistic enough, you can notice your addictions or bad habits that do not necessarily have to be done that day. Since you usually do not need to study every single day (if you plan efficiently), you can make cheat days where you do all the things that you were not able to do the other day. This compensates for having to study, in case you hate to do anything for school.

When you put all the necessary activities on your planning, try to find an open spot on it that is at least one hour long (the more time, the better in this case). When you have found the right time, make sure not to plan anything else during this time. Remember, you will have cheat days in the future, so studying is not always as bad as it seems. Then, the duration of the planned study should be as long as it is necessarily possible. It is more likely to stop studying sooner than later. If the period fits well in your schedule, you should add break times during the study that would suit you the best. Be practical, though, because your breaks should not be longer than the time you spend studying. When you tried using a clear schedule several times, you will find the perfect duration and frequency of breaks. The Best Place to Study

After finding the perfect time of when and how long you are going to study, it is also vital to find an excellent place to study. What if I don’t pass? This will not help you at all because the consequences are always better if you do pass the exam(s). If you have found your motivation to study, then you are already a step further than most of the other students.

Being Productive for Better Results

Now that you have prepared to study, and you have found your motivation, it is essential to know how to become the most productive. Even if your motivation and preparation are perfect, you could still fail because you are not using your time efficiently. Spending a lot of time on something does not mean you will get the expected results. Therefore, you need to think of ways to use your time most effectively.

Being productive could require knowledge and skill. Some people can be extremely productive in a short amount of time. Others tend to spread out their productivity over long periods. No matter which strategy you use, it is crucial to focus on when you are studying. For the people that are easily distracted, try to put all distractions aside and only use them during the scheduled breaks. Some disturbances could be your mobile phone or your computer/laptop. Make sure to put every distraction in silent mode or turn it off completely. This way, you will not be distracted during your productiveness.

Another way to be productive is to attend all classes. When you attend all classes, you are becoming more familiar with each subject. This will save a lot of time and stress because otherwise, you have to do all the research yourself using the books and the internet. Also, if you do not attend classes, you will miss the opportunity to know what is and what is not essential for the tests/exams so that you do not have to study anything irrelevant. Additionally, during classes, the teacher might give some extra tips on how to get better results. Not only does attending classes help you with getting better test results, but it also helps you on a social level. If you are not taking private lessons, then it means other students are attending the same class. They could become good friends, and you can even help each other with studying.

Putting in Effort to your Study

When you learned about all the previous aspects of studying effectively, there is still one more matter that is very important. In case you know about how to study effectively, but do not put any effort into it, then you still won’t be able to get good results. Usually, effort goes along with motivation and planning. Sometimes, even though you are very motivated to do something, you still put no effort into it because of some reason.

Let us look at an example explaining this matter: Your goal is to lose weight by jogging for an hour every day. You have set the perfect time to do this for yourself, and you are very motivated because you want to get in shape. Moreover, you are even using the ideal gear and found the perfect place for a nice jog. But, after a few days, you become lazy and ruin your plans. This is all because you do not put enough effort into your goals.

If you do not set clear goals for yourself for specific dates, then it is difficult to see any progression at all.

Let us look back at how we can improve the goal of losing weight in the previous example. To get a good result for losing weight, you need to make goals for a specific period. For example: After two weeks of jogging, I want to lose 2kg of weight. After two months of jogging, I want to lose 5kg of weight in total. After two months of jogging, I want to maintain the pressure at that time.

The losing weight example can be done for studying too. Since everyone is different, you need to set goals that are realistic and specific for yourself. This way, you will get the best results possible. When you applied all the tips mentioned above, but still do not get the results you hoped for, then you need to change your strategy. Ask yourself where you could improve yourself. Do you spend enough time studying? Do you use the right materials? Do you put in enough effort? International students who are applying to study a degree in China or get the X1 student visa in China need to undertake a medical examination. These medical examinations are supposed to check the physical wellbeing of students to be sure they are fit to study in China. What is a Medical Examination for Chinese Universities

A medical examination is a compulsory physical test designed to prove that international students are fit to study in China. They submit them to the recognized physician to complete, stamp, and certify.

Medical Examination as part of Student Visa Requirement for China

International students must have a passport and visa to enter China after securing admission to a Chinese University. As part of applying for a study visa, embassies and universities require that you submit a correctly completed and certified Medical Examination Form. Please note that this is compulsory and international students must follow the right steps to move forward.

Physical Examination

Freshmen report first of all physical Examination, only through the physical Examination to determine the health of the new students can enter the school.

1. Who needs a medical check-up?

New students who study in China for six months or more must undergo a physical examination.

2. When will the medical check-up take?

New students must undergo a medical examination within one week of arrival in school to prepare for a residence permit.

5. How much does the medical examination cost? (For informational purposes only)

  • Full body check-up: 495 yuan results within three days
  • Verification fee: 100 yuan
  • Syphilis check fee: 100 yuan
  • HIV(AIDS) examination fee: 80 yuan
  • X-ray (chest): 40 yuan
  • Hepatitis A, hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and liver function: 175 yuan

6. Do I need to go through physical Examination again if I’ve already done it at home?

This will depend on how valid your test is. Sometimes, some of the physical examination tests for Chinese visas are not appropriately done or have expired. In such cases, you will be required to perform a new test.

7. Is the Physical or Medical Examination Compulsory?

If you are coming to China for a short summer or semester study, this is not a requirement, but if your study duration is about a year and above, it becomes mandatory. If you already have a residence permit in China, then you don’t need to go through this process again. So long term students and first-time visa applicants are strictly required to have a China physical examination test

8. What happens if my medical Examination is Disapporived in China?

Fret not, several international students’s medical exams get rejected. You will have to contact the International students’ office for complete support. They will provide you address and contact details of the hospital

9. What type of diseases are checked?

They will be checking for the following throughout your Medical Examination: Influenza, Poliomyelitis, Malaria, Dengue fever, Relapsing fever, Epidemic typhus HIV and AIDS, Hepatitis B, Plague, Cholera, Yellow fever and other infectious diseases required for disclosure by the State Council. Entry and residence will be denied for those testing positive or showing condition of any of the above in addition to Severe Psychosis, Infectious Tuberculosis disease, and any other physical or mental conditions, deemed to be a threat to China’s health and safety standards.

All International students are mandated to take a medical examination to qualify to study in China. It also automatically becomes a requirement to get an X1 visa before entering China. You are required to complete the process before coming to China. If the physical exam takes in your home country is not up to standard, you are required to retake it in China, so you should make room for the next round of Examinations. Sometimes test taken before arrival exceeds the 6-month validity period, and students will be required to retake it.

Requirements for Medical Examinations

What requirements should the medical examination form meet? For your medical test to be accepted, it must meet some standards, and international students should pay close attention to this.

  • Stamped by a certified doctor
  • Tests should be performed at a recognized hospital
  • Should not be six months older
  • The language used should be English, or you will need translation service
  • Attach a personal passport photo to the medical form
  • Original copy of the form is needed
  • Official stamp stamped on top of the passport photo
  • Signed and stamped by issuing doctor (last page)
  • If you have to photocopy the blank form, please do it double-sided and NOT two pages
  • Original copy of AIDS, Syphilis, EGC and X-Ray test reports

Important Notice Before Showing up for Your medical test:

  1. Very Important! Don’t eat breakfast in the morning before going to see the doctor. It might affect the test results.
  2. If you have been put on any medications, discuss it with the doctor before proceeding with the test. They need to understand how that could impact the medical results
  3. Go to the center very early in the morning
  4. some hospitals will require an appointment before seeing you
  5. You should know the cost before showing up
  6. Seek further information from your embassy to know what hospitals are accredited
  7. Insist the doctor fills the right medical forms

Types of Tests Required for Physical Examination for the Chinese visa

a) A valid passport used for your visa application

b) Photocopies of your biometric passport pages; picture and personal information page, last visa page, recent entry stamp page

c) 2-inch passport-style photos – use the most recent and professionally taken ones.

d) make sure you go with the medical examination fee of about 400 RMB. You can settle this with a Chinese bank card, WeChat, Alipay or even cash

How to register with the PSB / Police on arrival in China

Residence Registration with PSB in China

Registration is mandatory for foreigners who enter China with the Public Security Bureau (PSB) through the local police station. Since 1 July 2008 in China, it became enforced and required registration within 48 hours. Offenders and those who fail to register (whether it is individuals or the management of an apartment building) will have to pay a fine. This article will help you with this and give you some additional tips. Whether you are a student studying in China, a tourist, or a business person, you need to register. Still, the modus varies depending on the accommodation option or types of visas.

Registering Your Accommodation in China

After entering the country, foreign students shall, in accordance with the provisions of the Foreign Affairs Law, promptly handle the registration of their accommodation and fill out the Temporary Accommodation Registration Form. Those who stay in hotels, guest houses, and student buildings on campus shall declare to the hotels, guest houses, or international student homes. Those who stay in other units (including residents’ homes, within enterprises, and institutions) shall report to the local public security police station.

  1. When will the check-in report be made?
    The city must be declared within 48 hours and the countryside within 72 hours.
  2. How do I complete the registeration process?
    A. Filling out the “Temporary Accommodation Registration Form” should be done without missing items, clear handwriting, and foreign abbreviation specifications.
    B. Accommodation in different places shall be declared in a timely manner. If you have applied for a residence permit and have stayed in a registered place of permanent residence, there is no need to declare a separate registration of the stay. If you leave the place of permanent residence where you have applied for a residence permit registration, you shall declare your temporary accommodation elsewhere (e.g. temporarily at the home of a Chinese foreign friend).
  3. What are the consequences of not registering your residence in china?
    Those who fail to handle or fail to register their accommodation in a timely manner and stay without valid documents may be given a warning or a fine of 50-500 Yuan in accordance with the provisions of the Foreign Regulations.

Guests of hotels and service flats

The hotel or the management of a service flat must register foreign guests with the local PSB upon their arrival. Typically, this procedure is automatic, without the need for additional action from the guest. This means that foreigners who want to stay in a hotel in China will have their registeration completed at the hotel and do not need to visit the local police.

Foreigners living in private apartments

The management of private apartments should have foreign tenants/residents registered with the PSB through the competent local police station. If this does not happen, both the management company and the foreigner can be (heavily) fined. Registration at the relevant local police station within 24 hours of arrival in China is mandatory for any foreigner (tourists included).

Register with the local police

You have to register with the local police within 48 hours. You have to do this in every city you stay in. A good landlord will report this himself and after arrival go with you to the right police station. You will also encounter owners who do not want to cooperate. They may have no experience with foreign guests, find too much trouble or illegally rent out their apartment.

When in China, it is recommended that you follow the laws of China. If the landlord does not want to help you with the registration, then the chances of being fined as a tourist are virtually negligible. Compare it to traffic rules that are hardly observed in China. Keep in mind that it is always your responsibility and that the fine can be up to 500 Yuan.

How to register with the PSB on Arrival?

When you arrive within the first 48 hours, you are required to register your place of residence. First-time offenders are fined and warned. Here is a simple process of getting registered with the local police station.

  • A photocopy of the front page of your passport
  • Visa page copy
  • Immigration entry stamp
  • House Purchase Documents ( to be provided by the one who rents the apartment)
  • Visit the local police station with these documents and request to register.
  • Fill out the application form with all your details.

The process takes less than 15 minutes to complete, and the officer attending to you will print a simple slip for you. Keep the slip with you as well as your passport wherever you go.

 

How to register with Your Embassy in China?

If you plan to stay in China for an extended period, it is advisable to register with your country’s Embassy in China or consular general as well. Please transfer the following documents (by mail, mail or personal/third parties) for a valid registration:

  • Application form for registration adequately completed and signed. Please note that for minors, there is a separate form.
  • Copy of identity card
  • Copy of passport and valid visa for China
  • Proof of registration at a local Chinese police station
  • Evidence of depreciation abroad (model 8), obtained from your previous town hall, if in your possession.
  • Form for registration as a voter for the federal legislative chamber and possibly the proxy form.

Housing students in China

For a low amount per $15 day, you can use a room on campus, and also the rent for apartments outside school is usually cheap. Your responsibility to register with the PSB depends on what accommodation of option you select as a student. Let’s look at a few of the scenarios below.

  • Living on campus

When living on campus, the school provides registration at the reception. You are, therefore, not required to visit the local police and register by yourself. Universities and Hotels have an exclusive right to register their residents. Usually, most Chinese universities separate Chinese students from international students—the number of students you share rooms which will determine the price of your housing. Prices on campus are also affected by whether or not to have a private bathroom, air conditioning, and other luxury amenities. On average, the price of a room on a Chinese campus is between €3 and €20 per day.

  • Rent your Private Apartment

You need to visit the PSB with your apartment owner to register with the documents mentioned above. If you are studying in China for a more extended period and are you very fond of your privacy, you can also rent your apartment. For between €200 and €400 per month (excluding gas, water, and light), you already live in a three-room apartment off-campus. If you share a flat with a roommate, you will live very efficiently!

Conditions for an X visa

To obtain a student visa for China, you must first be admitted to a Chinese university. Your plane ticket (round trip) and your accommodation must also be arranged. The proof of this (admission ticket, print out of your airline tickets, etc.) must be included when applying for a visa.

How do you apply for a student visa for China?

Applying for a visa for China goes through the China Visa Application Service Center (CVASC). If you follow the CVASC’s roadmap, your visa will take ten working days. To apply for an X visa, you should send the following papers:

  1. Fully completed visa form.
  2. Fully completed form of necessary documents
  3. A photocopy of your passport (wit six months validity)
  4. A recent passport photo (48 x 33 millimeter)
  5. Admission certificate (+ photocopy) of the training institute / University
  6. A JW201 or JW202 form (you will receive it from the Chinese university)
  7. A printed version of your airline tickets (round trip)
  8. Proof of overnight stay in the city where you are going to study

Please note: If you stay in China for more than 180 days, you don’t have to send airline tickets and proof of overnight stay. However, in China, you have to make sure that your visa is converted to a residence permit that is valid throughout the study period.

How to Apply for a Chinese university?

Applying to study in China comes in various forms – you either apply directly to the university or get the service of an admission platform, which we highly recommend. Chinese websites are often confusing mazes for most people. This does not mean that it is poorly organized on the spot: it is the way Chinese design websites. What are the additional rules there for international students?

  • You need to know several rules when entering China as a student. Since you are in a foreign country, you should adopt the country’s laws to avoid any unnecessary problems. The first initiative you can take when you enter China is to make sure you register with the police and get your foreign student ID card as soon as possible. This could avoid a lot of trouble. Also, since you have a student visa and not a work visa, you are not allowed to do any paid jobs in China unless internships.   • Don’t get into a scuffle with locals; always walk away from trouble when provoked. Always be on the lookout for trouble makers on the street and in the night clubs. If you engage in a fight as a student, you are likely to be punished or may even lose your visa.
  • Avoid drugs at all costs- whether its for recreational purposes or addiction. China is stringent in dealing with people found with drugs. There are urine tests conducted at random public places.
