From businesses to individuals all over the world, the app is truly an economic masterpiece.

In 2014, Ant Financial Services Group was established from its previous company: Small and Micro Financial Services Company. This year, AliPay itself also made a lot of developments. For example: making it possible to use fingerprint for making payments. AliPay was the first company in China to be able to use this, which made it even more convenient to make any payment.

Ant Financial is an affiliate of Alibaba, the” mother” of companies in China. Alibaba is one of the biggest firms in the world using multiple associates to reach their goals. AliPay is a company to make payments either online or offline, but Alibaba also owns Taobao, which is one of the most significant shopping platforms in the world. Taobao is an online marketplace competing with eBay and Amazon. AliExpress is similar to Taobao but made for international trade. How to use AliPay

The complex system of AliPay is simple to make payments but has an enormous amount of features. This makes it sometimes difficult for new users to use it well. Especially for foreigners, it could be a challenge since many features are entirely in the Chinese language. Luckily, if you just need to use the app to make a payment, then it may be very easy to use.

To use AliPay as a foreigner, it is recommended (but not necessary) to have a Chinese bank account. If you are traveling or studying in China for a short period, then opening a Chinese bank account may not be that convenient for you. But do not worry, since there are other ways to use the payment system of AliPay.

Long Term Visitors / Chinese Bank Account Holders

Typically, you would link your Chinese bank account to your AliPay account. This makes it possible to directly make payments from your bank, using only your mobile device. AliPay also requires you to verify your identity using your details. This strict system prevents scammers and robots from abusing the app, which saves a lot of trouble. It is straightforward to verify your identity since it most likely is in a tutorial when you open the app for the first time. If not, then go to your profile inside the app, and follow the guidelines for setting up your AliPay profile.

Short Term Visitors / Non-Chinese Bank Account Holders

If you don’t yet have a Chinese bank account, either because you are a short-term visitor or you feel like another bank account is unnecessary, then you can take the following actions. The Bank of Shanghai has implemented a system in AliPay called the “Tour Pass.” This handy feature allows you to put prepaid credit on your AliPay account. To deposit money on your prepaid account, you need to verify your identity and credit card details. AliPay currently supports a total of 110 countries, including the United States, Russia, Germany, and the Netherlands. Unfortunately, you are limited to using a credit card, since the debit card is not (yet) supported in the AliPay system. The supported credit card companies are currently: VISA, MasterCard, UCB, American Express, and Diners Club International.

The maximum amount allowed on your prepaid account is currently 5000RMB (2020/04/28), which is around €650 (0.13) or $705 (0.14) at the moment. This amount could change in the future since the maximum amount in 2019 was only 2000RMB. Making large payments such as paying for rent, or buying expensive goods are advised to either pay in cash or make several payments using your AliPay account (since the prepaid account can only be topped up to 5000RMB). The fee of depositing your prepaid account depends on the charge of your credit card making international payments, and this should be between 2% to 5%.

Linking Your Card to Alipay Integrating Wechat on your mobile app

Its now time to connect your card to Alipay. The process is same as wechat card linking.

Step 1: Most important step- download and signup with your Phone number

Visit your app store and install Alipay app- its so easy, then sign up with an existing mobile phone number. The app will send a confirmation code to the number you provided. Insert the code and proceed to set your passcode.

 

Step 2: Pair Your Bank Card

Click “Me” on the right bottom corner, then tap “Bank Cards”. If this is the first card , the system prompt you to “Add Card” – tap that command. Provide the required details and proceed

Step 3: Add Required bank Card Details

Add your Chinese Bank Card Details and if you have international cards feel free to us that too. To receive funds, make sure you add the Chinese card first

 

Step 4: Confirm your Bank Details

You will be asked to provide an ID to authenticate your account, always make sure you use same ID as you used to open the bank account – these two details much match . if you are unsuccessful, it is likely that there is a mismatch.

So if your authentication works, you will receive a code from Alipay. Enter the code to complete the pairing process

Step 5: Start Sending Payments!

After linking your card, the bank number will now appear in the “Cards” section. You are all set to use Ali pay for payments. For on-location payments, just tap the “Pay” button to load your QR code. The QR code is avilable and can be scanned by vendors.

Using AliPay for Short-Term Visitors in Steps

  1. 1. Download the AliPay App on your mobile device (Android/IOS)
  2. 2.Set-up your Profile and Verify your Identity (In case a bank account is required, try to fill in your current bank details. Using a foreign bank account will not allow you to make payments in China, but will at least help you to set up your AliPay Account).
  3. 3. Go to the Home Page of the App and find the section: “Tour Pass” (If it is not on the Home Page, you can find it under “Fund Transfer” in the “All Apps” section).
  4. 4. You are now on the Prepaid Card page of the Bank of Shanghai, where you need to select the amount you want to deposit on your Prepaid Account (Max 5000RMB).
  5. 5. When you entered the desirable amount, select your Country/Region and fill in your Passport Details.
  6. 6. After filling in the Passport Details, you need to enter your credit card details (VISA, MasterCard, UCB, American Express, or Diners Club International).
  7. 7. When all the fields are completed, you need to check the box saying: You agree to enter into the “Bank of Shanghai Service and Quick Payment Agreement.”
  8. 8. As long as there is enough credit on your Prepaid Account, you can make payments using the AliPay app.
  9. 9. To make a payment: go to the home page and select how you want to pay (Scan, Pay, Collect, or Pocket).

Finding the Right Motivation to Study

Motivation is one of the critical points to study well. If you are not motivated to learn something, then you will most likely forget about almost everything. Therefore, let’s take a step back and look at what it takes to become motivated.

Motivation can originate from several things. It could be something fun which makes you fired up, it could also be a goal in your life or a result you want to achieve. Being Productive for Better Results

Now that you have prepared to study, and you have found your motivation, it is essential to know how to become the most productive. Even if your motivation and preparation are perfect, you could still fail because you are not using your time efficiently. Spending a lot of time on something does not mean you will get the expected results. Therefore, you need to think of ways to use your time most effectively.

Being productive could require knowledge and skill. Some people can be extremely productive in a short amount of time. Others tend to spread out their productivity over long periods. No matter which strategy you use, it is crucial to focus on when you are studying. For the people that are easily distracted, try to put all distractions aside and only use them during the scheduled breaks. Some disturbances could be your mobile phone or your computer/laptop. Make sure to put every distraction in silent mode or turn it off completely. This way, you will not be distracted during your productiveness.

Another way to be productive is to attend all classes. When you attend all classes, you are becoming more familiar with each subject. This will save a lot of time and stress because otherwise, you have to do all the research yourself using the books and the internet. What is a Medical Examination for Chinese Universities

A medical examination is a compulsory physical test designed to prove that international students are fit to study in China. They submit them to the recognized physician to complete, stamp, and certify.

Medical Examination as part of Student Visa Requirement for China

International students must have a passport and visa to enter China after securing admission to a Chinese University. As part of applying for a study visa, embassies and universities require that you submit a correctly completed and certified Medical Examination Form. Physical Examination

6. Do I need to go through physical Examination again if I’ve already done it at home?

This will depend on how valid your test is. Sometimes, some of the physical examination tests for Chinese visas are not appropriately done or have expired. In such cases, you will be required to perform a new test.

7. Is the Physical or Medical Examination Compulsory?

If you are coming to China for a short summer or semester study, this is not a requirement, but if your study duration is about a year and above, it becomes mandatory. If you already have a residence permit in China, then you don’t need to go through this process again. All International students are mandated to take a medical examination to qualify to study in China. It also automatically becomes a requirement to get an X1 visa before entering China. Requirements for Medical Examinations

What requirements should the medical examination form meet? For your medical test to be accepted, it must meet some standards, and international students should pay close attention to this.

  • Stamped by a certified doctor
  • Tests should be performed at a recognized hospital
  • Should not be six months older
  • The language used should be English, or you will need translation service

How to register with the PSB / Police on arrival in China

Residence Registration with PSB in China

Registration is mandatory for foreigners who enter China with the Public Security Bureau (PSB) through the local police station. Since 1 July 2008 in China, it became enforced and required registration within 48 hours. Offenders and those who fail to register (whether it is individuals or the management of an apartment building) will have to pay a fine. This article will help you with this and give you some additional tips. Whether you are a student studying in China, a tourist, or a business person, you need to register. Still, the modus varies depending on the accommodation option or types of visas.

Registering Your Accommodation in China

After entering the country, foreign students shall, in accordance with the provisions of the Foreign Affairs Law, promptly handle the registration of their accommodation and fill out the Temporary Accommodation Registration Form. Those who stay in hotels, guest houses, and student buildings on campus shall declare to the hotels, guest houses, or international student homes. Those who stay in other units (including residents’ homes, within enterprises, and institutions) shall report to the local public security police station.

  1. When will the check-in report be made?
    The city must be declared within 48 hours and the countryside within 72 hours.
  2. How do I complete the registeration process?
    A. Filling out the “Temporary Accommodation Registration Form” should be done without missing items, clear handwriting, and foreign abbreviation specifications.
    B. Accommodation in different places shall be declared in a timely manner. If you have applied for a residence permit and have stayed in a registered place of permanent residence, there is no need to declare a separate registration of the stay. If you leave the place of permanent residence where you have applied for a residence permit registration, you shall declare your temporary accommodation elsewhere (e.g. temporarily at the home of a Chinese foreign friend).
  3. What are the consequences of not registering your residence in china?
    Those who fail to handle or fail to register their accommodation in a timely manner and stay without valid documents may be given a warning or a fine of 50-500 Yuan in accordance with the provisions of the Foreign Regulations.

Guests of hotels and service flats

The hotel or the management of a service flat must register foreign guests with the local PSB upon their arrival. Typically, this procedure is automatic, without the need for additional action from the guest. This means that foreigners who want to stay in a hotel in China will have their registeration completed at the hotel and do not need to visit the local police.

Foreigners living in private apartments

The management of private apartments should have foreign tenants/residents registered with the PSB through the competent local police station. If this does not happen, both the management company and the foreigner can be (heavily) fined. Registration at the relevant local police station within 24 hours of arrival in China is mandatory for any foreigner (tourists included).

Register with the local police

You have to register with the local police within 48 hours. You have to do this in every city you stay in. A good landlord will report this himself and after arrival go with you to the right police station. You will also encounter owners who do not want to cooperate. They may have no experience with foreign guests, find too much trouble or illegally rent out their apartment.

When in China, it is recommended that you follow the laws of China. If the landlord does not want to help you with the registration, then the chances of being fined as a tourist are virtually negligible. Compare it to traffic rules that are hardly observed in China. Keep in mind that it is always your responsibility and that the fine can be up to 500 Yuan.

How to register with the PSB on Arrival?

When you arrive within the first 48 hours, you are required to register your place of residence. First-time offenders are fined and warned. Here is a simple process of getting registered with the local police station.

  • A photocopy of the front page of your passport
  • Visa page copy
  • Immigration entry stamp
  • House Purchase Documents ( to be provided by the one who rents the apartment)
  • Visit the local police station with these documents and request to register.
  • Fill out the application form with all your details.

The process takes less than 15 minutes to complete, and the officer attending to you will print a simple slip for you. Keep the slip with you as well as your passport wherever you go.

 

How to register with Your Embassy in China?

If you plan to stay in China for an extended period, it is advisable to register with your country’s Embassy in China or consular general as well. Please transfer the following documents (by mail, mail or personal/third parties) for a valid registration:

  • Application form for registration adequately completed and signed. Please note that for minors, there is a separate form.
  • Copy of identity card
  • Copy of passport and valid visa for China
  • Proof of registration at a local Chinese police station
  • Evidence of depreciation abroad (model 8), obtained from your previous town hall, if in your possession.
  • Form for registration as a voter for the federal legislative chamber and possibly the proxy form.

Housing students in China

For a low amount per $15 day, you can use a room on campus, and also the rent for apartments outside school is usually cheap. Your responsibility to register with the PSB depends on what accommodation of option you select as a student. Let’s look at a few of the scenarios below.

  • Living on campus

When living on campus, the school provides registration at the reception. You are, therefore, not required to visit the local police and register by yourself. Universities and Hotels have an exclusive right to register their residents. Usually, most Chinese universities separate Chinese students from international students—the number of students you share rooms which will determine the price of your housing. Prices on campus are also affected by whether or not to have a private bathroom, air conditioning, and other luxury amenities. On average, the price of a room on a Chinese campus is between €3 and €20 per day.

  • Rent your Private Apartment

You need to visit the PSB with your apartment owner to register with the documents mentioned above. If you are studying in China for a more extended period and are you very fond of your privacy, you can also rent your apartment. For between €200 and €400 per month (excluding gas, water, and light), you already live in a three-room apartment off-campus. If you share a flat with a roommate, you will live very efficiently!

Conditions for an X visa

To obtain a student visa for China, you must first be admitted to a Chinese university. Your plane ticket (round trip) and your accommodation must also be arranged. The proof of this (admission ticket, print out of your airline tickets, etc.) must be included when applying for a visa.

How do you apply for a student visa for China?

Applying for a visa for China goes through the China Visa Application Service Center (CVASC). If you follow the CVASC’s roadmap, your visa will take ten working days. To apply for an X visa, you should send the following papers:

  1. Fully completed visa form.
  2. Fully completed form of necessary documents
  3. A photocopy of your passport (wit six months validity)
  4. A recent passport photo (48 x 33 millimeter)
  5. Admission certificate (+ photocopy) of the training institute / University
  6. A JW201 or JW202 form (you will receive it from the Chinese university)
  7. A printed version of your airline tickets (round trip)
  8. Proof of overnight stay in the city where you are going to study

Please note: If you stay in China for more than 180 days, you don’t have to send airline tickets and proof of overnight stay. However, in China, you have to make sure that your visa is converted to a residence permit that is valid throughout the study period.

How to Apply for a Chinese university?

Applying to study in China comes in various forms – you either apply directly to the university or get the service of an admission platform, which we highly recommend. Chinese websites are often confusing mazes for most people. This does not mean that it is poorly organized on the spot: it is the way Chinese design websites. For the other dimensions, there are no significant differences. Such differences widen as the context becomes more serious. After all, someone in such an environment can and will probably, actively try to paint a picture of himself as positive as possible. The extent of such effects is a-priori not to say. Usually, they are large enough to eventually create a separate standard group for recruitment and selection settings.

Interpretation group differences

All the differences found should be seen in the light of their coherence. For example, age differences also coincide with generational differences. Group differences by dimension

Dimension ‘Extraversion’

This dimension consists of the ‘Accessible’, ‘Sociable’ scales, ‘Assertive and dominant’, ‘Energetic’, ‘Tension Need’, and ‘Cheerfulness’.

People who score high on this dimension are more focused on things and people around them lower performers; they are more inward-looking.

Men and women score on average, the same on this dimension. This also applies to people of different ages. Secondary school graduates seem to score slightly lower on average on this dimension than higher educated people, but this difference is hardly significant.

Dimension’ Emotionality’

This dimension consists of ‘Worrisome’, ‘Irritation’, ‘Depression’, ‘Not confident’, ‘Uninhibited’ and ‘Vulnerability’.

People who are more sensitive than others score higher on this dimension. Women score, on average, slightly higher than men on this dimension as a whole. However, the average difference in the dimension as a whole is a maximum of one ‘standard nine’ point. This overall difference can be seen at virtually all scales of this dimension. Only in the ‘Depression’ scale is this difference between men and women not significant.

Secondary-educated people score slightly lower than higher educated people. This effect is significant enough to mention, especially since this difference can be found on all the underlying scales of this dimension. Young people score higher on ‘Worrying’ than older people. As people get older, they score lower on “Not Confident.” The score on ‘Depression’ is age-dependent. The score on ‘Depression’ also decreases as people get older.

Dimension ‘Conscientiousness’

This dimension consists of ‘Effective’, ‘Orderliness’, ‘Dutiful’, ‘Performance Oriented’, Self-Starter’ and ‘Cautious’.

This dimension has a lot to do with how people stand about work and tasks. Depending on a specific job or function, high or low scores are favorable on these scales.

On this dimension as a whole and also on the underlying scales, there are no significant differences between men and women. On average, secondary school graduates score a tiny bit lower on this dimension. Between groups of different ages, there are only small differences. As people get older, they score slightly higher on most scales of “Conscientiousness.” This is then mainly visible on ‘Performance Orientation’ and clearer on the ‘Self Starter’ scale.

Dimension ‘Accommodating’

This dimension consists of the scales’ Trust’, ‘Integrity and sincerity’, ‘Caring’, ‘Mild and forgiving’, ‘Modesty,’ and ‘Pity’.

Women usually score just a little higher on this dimension. This is primarily caused by a slightly higher score of women on the scales’ Integrity and sincere’ and ‘Pity’. On ‘Accommodating’ there are no differences as a function of the level of education. As people get older, they score a little higher on ‘Mild and forgiving’.

Dimension ‘Openness’

This dimension consists of the scales’ Fantasy’, ‘Art and nature-loving’, ‘Understanding emotions’, ‘Variation Need’, ‘Intellect’, and ‘Not Conservative’.

On this dimension as a whole, there is no difference between men and women. Women score a little higher on ‘Understanding emotions’. A small variation on the dimension ‘Openness’ is mainly devoted to a slightly higher score of highly educated people on the ‘Intellect’ scale. There are no significant differences between the different age groups.
